Video shows Ryan Lochte returning to athletes' village after supposed "robbery"

The Daily Mail posted this video showing Ryan Lochte and fellow swimmers returning to the Olympic athletes' village in Rio de Janeiro the night they were supposedly "robbed." Actually, other footage shows the guys at a Rio gas station, where authorities say they broke a door and got into a scuffle with security guards, then later concocted the robbery narrative.

The video is used with the Daily Mail's permission.

At a lengthy news conference, Rio authorities said the investigation continues but that for now, they are saying no robbery took place.

"There was no robbery the way it was reported or claimed," an interpreter speaking for police chief Fernando Veloso said. "They were not victims. The police can affirm that."

It also wasn't clear what charges the swimmers could face. Lochte is back in the United States but his teammates including the University of Georgia's Gunnar Bentz have been detained, their passports seized.

But TMZ is just out with a new report that says "Lochte did not lie about the "'robbery' incident ... and there are three minutes of missing surveillance video that will back up most of his story."

"Lochte mistook the uniforms worn by the security guards as police uniforms, and he claims during the missing three minutes he and the other swimmers were pulled out of the taxi at gunpoint," TMZ continued. "(Fellow swimmer) Jimmy Feigen just spoke with local news in San Antonio, denying a cover-up and affirming he was robbed."

Return for updates.
