Jenna Bush made an emotional apology after her red-carpet gaffe created a new movie and sent it trending - but all is forgiven.

MORE:

In a quick exchange with Pharrell Williams at the Golden Globes on Sunday, the former first daughter asked him about "Hidden Fences," mashing up "Hidden Figures," the Atlanta-filmed movie for which Williams created the soundtrack, and "Fences," starring Viola Davis and Denzel Washington.

Williams reached out via Twitter to issue forgiveness - and an intriguing challenge.

After Jenna's mixup the term trended quickly, and soon Twitter was talking about a movie that didn't even exist. Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King called it an outrageous micro-aggression:

Other observations were more droll:

"I am deeply sorry," a remorseful Jenna said in a wavering voice during Monday's "Today" show. "I accidentally, in the electricity of the red carpet, which I had never done one before, called 'Hidden Figures' 'Hidden Fences.'"

She added that she's seen both movies, calling both "brilliant." She's interviewed cast members from both movies and apologized for the error.

"All of us who know you know your heart and know that was a mistake," Al Roker said. "We've all been there. Honest mistakes happen in live television."
