Hurricane Matthew forces Lady Chablis' memorial to be postponed

The late Lady Chablis was a force of nature but the performer's final bow has been postponed by another one. A community memorial had been planned for this weekend in Savannah but with Hurricane Matthew staggering toward the Georgia coast like an unwanted party guest, organizers have decided to reschedule.

Chablis, made famous by the book and film "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" died last month after a period of failing health.

Savannah's Lucas Theatre and Club One, where Chablis performed, were to hold a commemorative screening of the film followed by tribute performances this Saturday. Hurricane Matthew convinced organizers to reschedule.

Club One looks forward to the rain date, and posted a reminder of the schedule:
