Here's what Aaron Carter is saying following his arrest on DUI/drug charges

Following his arrest on DUI and drug charges Saturday night in Habersham County, Aaron Carter is giving his account of things.

"I made the decision to buy a very cheap car so that I wasn't wasting money on rental cars," he explained to Entertainment Tonight. "It was a lemon, so the alternator was shot. It kept dying. I called Triple A. All my windows were down. I couldn't even lock my car. So I put my girlfriend in the back of the car and I guarded the car all night, for eight hours. So, I went to Auto Zone to see if I could do anything about it. The police approached me at the Auto Zone. I was already inside the Auto Zone."

Apparently someone who saw him swerving on the road and alerted authorities - but any erratic driving was caused by his malfunctioning car, Carter said. He said he told authorities recognized him immediately - "Of course they did" - but wouldn't let him to speak to an attorney.

Carter said he does not drink alcohol but said he smokes marijuana for anxiety.

"I have marijuana in the car," he said he told officers at the scene.

The pop singer's been on tour this summer and is happy to have a chance for fans to hear from him personally following his encounter with the law. His Entertainment Tonight interview continues this evening:
