Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2," which filmed mostly at the Pinewood Studios Atlanta facility in Fayette County, is out today.
Chris Pratt is back in his title role as Peter Quill /Star-Lord and joining the rest of the gang this go-round is Kurt Russell, introduced as Peter's dear ole dad.
Given its CGI-heavy nature you probably won't recognize metro Atlanta (except for some street scenes shot in Cartersville) but who cares? The Guardians totally made it rain in Georgia.
"Comic books are serious business and they deserve respect as a viable, vibrant and, I'd argue, essential art form," director James Gunn said in a promo clip he filmed with Pratt. Although the bit was satirical (Pratt was musing that he should do Shakespeare instead of action movies), Gunn's observation was apt - take a look at the numbers below.

According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, which is always keen to promote our state's booming film industry, the movie - also starring Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Dave Bautista, the voices of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel et al - racked up quite a bill during production.
We're told the project:
· Hired nearly 1,400 local crew and extras.
· Spent more than $4 million at local hotels for room nights.
· Spent more than $30 million at local Georgia companies for catering, makeup, construction supplies, set decorations, car rentals and more.
· And had a production spend of more than $75 million in Georgia.
