What's the recipe for Houston's Bloody Mary and other big Atlanta food questions, answered

Last week, you asked your burning questions about the Atlanta dining scene and AJC food and dining editor Ligaya Figueras answered them.

The Kickstart

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. vodka or tequila
  • 6 oz. Kickstart Mix (recipe follows)
  • 2 dashes red Tabasco sauce

Procedure

  • Stir Kickstart Mix
  • Shake liquor and Kickstart Mix with ice, 4 quick vigorous shakes (DO NOT OVERSHAKE)
  • Strain into a chilled juice glass
  • Add 2 dashes Tabasco, do not mix
  • Garnish with a lime wedge

Kickstart Mix

(Yield: 8 cocktails)

Ingredients

  • 46 oz. Low Sodium V8 vegetable juice
  • 2 Tbsp. horseradish (prepared)
  • 1 Tbsp. Ding's pickle relish (individual bottles for sale at Houston's)
  • ½ cup chili sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt

Procedure

  • Combine ingredients together, mix well with wire whisk
