Velvet Taco bringing ‘tacos without borders’ to Atlanta

Dallas-based eatery serves ‘international’ tacos including spicy tikka chicken

A late-night Mexican restaurant with whose motto is ‘tacos without borders’ is set to open its first Georgia location next year.

Dallas-based Velvet Taco will open in March 2019 in the Buckhead Market Place at 77 Paces Ferry Place NW, with construction to begin at the end of 2018. The restaurant plans to hire a team of 70 employees in the coming months. 

The all-day restaurant, including late-night hours, offers a menu “that explores the edge of multi-cultural boundaries, featuring an eclectic array of spices and tastes from across the globe,” according to a press release.  

Taco options will include Spicy Tikka Chicken, Texas Akaushi Bacon Burger, Cuban Pig, Shrimp and Grits and a weekly taco feature, with recent options including Nashville Hot Cauliflower, Crawfish and Pork Jambalaya, Hangover Burger, Vindaloo Flank & Hemp and the Velvet Elvis.

The restaurant will also offers several sides, red velvet cake for dessert and drinks including margaritas, local craft beers and craft sodas.

The 2,514 square-foot restaurant will join other Velvet Taco locations in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and Chicago.
