We love a classic, perfectly fried and salted French fry as much as the next guy, but if you're starting to feel like spuds are duds, there are other ways to get your fry fix at metro Atlanta restaurants, sans potato.

Avocado Fries at ATL TacoThe Lenox Square Mexican spot from the team behind The Federal and Bantam + Biddy serve up a more nutritional but still indulgent French fry alternative in the form of avocado fries. Dip these babies in jalapeño ranch and queso cotija for an extra creamy twist.

3393 Peachtree Road NE, No. 3065B, Atlanta. 404-841-7559, atl-taco.com.

Yucca Fries at El Super Pan. The South American vegetable yucca isn't too far off from a potato when it comes to consistency and nutritional value. But the fries at El Super Pan get a creamy, slightly stringier twist on the original from the starchy yucca. Kick things up a bit with your choice of dipping sauces: aioli, cilantro chimi or mayo ketchup.

Ponce City Market, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE, Atlanta, 404-600-2465 and The Battery at Suntrust Park, 455 Legends Place SE, Atlanta. 404-521-6500. elsuperpan.com

Asparagus Fries at Marlow's TavernNo one would ever mistake fried asparagus for fried potatoes, but we're not mad at this "fry" that provides a satisfying crunch and is served with a creamy tarragon and citrus aioli for dipping. If asparagus isn't your thing, the restaurant's menu also offers chickpea fries.

Yaya's Eggplant Fries at Rathbun'sA small plate that hits all the tongue's pleasure spots, Yaya's Eggplant Fries are covered in Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs, then sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with a side of Tobasco sauce.  A little sweet, a little savory and a perfect accompaniment to one of the restaurant's hearty main dishes. Find out how to make them yourself here.

Zucchini fries at Six Feet UnderZucchini isn't always a hit on its own, but fry it up and you have a tasty side dish. Six Feet Under's version sees the veggie cut into thin long strips, fried in seasoned batter and served with ranch-style dipping sauce.

437 Memorial Drive SE, Atlanta, 404-523-6664 and 685 11th St., Atlanta, 404-810-0040. sixfeetunder.net/
