This restaurant's cinnamon roll is a reason to rise and shine

DISH OF THE WEEK: Cinnamon roll at Radial Cafe

Since opening 18 years ago, Radial Cafe has given residents of Candler Park good reason to rise and shine.

No, we’re not talking about clean-eating dishes like the grain bowl or vegan hash. Nor are we talking about those I-can’t-believe-they’re-meatless biscuits and vegetarian gravy. Or the vegetarian sausage. Or the gluten-free pancakes.

We’re talking about the cinnamon roll.

This from-scratch, fluffy round of yum arrives to the table with a knife jabbed into the center. Cut and share? As if. Take that knife and spread the mega dollop of silky cream cheese icing all over warm bun. Then submit yourself to the ritual of the cinnamon roll.

Let your fingers tear apart the spiral of soft, buttery dough starting from the outermost ring, slowly working your way to the center. Every so often, pause to admire the swirl of cinnamon, brown sugar and pecans as you lick the gooey, sticky icing from your fingers.

There really is only one way to eat this ultimate breakfast treat. Lucky for Atlanta, now that Radial Cafe has a location in College Park, we’ve got two places to devour what has to be one of the best cinnamon rolls in town.
