There are tons of events for food and drink lovers this month, with everything from a wing showdown to a chance to go behind the chocolate curtain.

When it comes to making plans, this is one time you can feel OK winging it. The third annual Springer Mountain Farms Southern Wing Showdown, produced by Taste of Atlanta, features wings prepared by more than 30 Southeastern chefs, including Jared Hall of One Flew South, Marc Taft of the Chicken and the Egg, and Christian Perez of City Pharmacy. Chefs will battle it out to win the “Best Wing” competition, judged by festivalgoers and a panel of wing aficionados. Also look for cocktail samples, side dishes, wine, beer, a silent auction and live music. Nonprofit beneficiaries for the event include Angel Flight and Second Helpings Atlanta.

Find out what happens when cultures collide at the Culture Vulture Beer Dinner, which will see five courses from Korean-influenced steakhouse Noona paired with beers from neighboring Good Word Brewing, specially brewed for the event.

Raise a glass to the second annual Atlanta Summer Wine Fest, featuring pours of more than 50 wines, as well as a selection of beer and cider. The event also features live music and a DJ, and food willbe available for purchase.

Cool down this month with Slow Food Atlanta's 12th annual Ice Cream Social. The collaboration with the Peachtree Road Farmers Market allows event attendees to vote on samples of ice cream made by both amateurs and metro Atlanta chefs from restaurants including Watershed, Leon's Full Service and Recess, all partnering with local farmers to use locally-grown ingredients. Proceeds support the Peachtree Road Farmers Market and Slow Food Atlanta.

Chow down on chiles for a good cause during the annual Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and Taqueria del Sol Hatch Chile Fest. The block party-style event, also featuring Charleston’s Home Team Barbecue, will celebrate the annual harvest of Hatch chiles from New Mexico with food stations, local beer available for purchase and live music. Proceeds benefit pediatric brain cancer outreach organization Hogs for the Cause.

Learn how your favorite candy is made as part of the Marcus Jewish Community Center’s Back of the Chocolate Shop event. Taste different types of chocolate as you learn how to incorporate chocolate into a variety of confections. Walk through the steps of making sipping chocolate, chocolate ganache truffles, homemade Oreos and chocolate fondue.
