Dish of the week: Custard from Southern Custard

Cooling down with frozen treats is the best way to beat the summer heat. With ice cream , frozen pops and frozen yogurt, Atlanta is full of options to satisfy your sweet tooth. But if you're looking for something new, head to Southern Custard in Brookhaven.

The frozen custard is made fresh daily, and customers can choose from three flavor options: vanilla, chocolate or the flavor of the day.

The flavor of the day menu is posted on Southern Custard's Facebook page, so plan your visit around when you want to try peach, cookie dough, lavender ube or maple waffle.

Add toppings, such as cookie dough, sprinkles, oreos, and fruit, or keep it simple. Eat it in a waffle cone or in a dish. Any way you eat it, the rich and creamy dessert is customizable and delicious.

At Southern Custard, which opened in April, the menu utilizes custard in many forms, including in concretes, shakes and an affogato that sees frozen custard drenched in espresso.
