Rozina Bake House & Coffee to open soon near Georgia State

Eatery from Let’s Eat caterer to offer pastries, sandwiches and coffee

A spot with an international flair is coming to downtown Atlanta.

Rozina Bake House & Coffee is slated to open in about three months at 33 Hurt Plaza SE near the Georgia State University campus, Atlanta Magazine first reported

The eatery from Shay Lavi, also the owner of catering company Let’s Eat, will offer a variety of Mediterranean-inspired pastries, including Italian, Turkish, Greek and Arabic treats; sandwiches made with break baked in-house; salads and juices made with locally-sourced produce; a rotating list of Mediterranean breakfast items; and coffee drinks and coffee slushies.

Lavi, who is hoping to find a local roaster to work with, said serving a good cup of coffee is especially important to him.

He plans to start by making 70 to 80 percent of the pastries in-house, eventually working up to making everything at the restaurant.

Named for his grandmother, who Lavi said “played a huge role in my life,” Rozina will be “very student friendly,” from the prices to the seating area with plugs for charging laptops and phones.

The restaurant is an extension of the time Lavi spent working in the kitchens of Atlanta restaurants including Ecco and Wrecking Bar, before launching Let’s Eat. Lavi, a native of Israel, said Rozina’s offerings are also a nod to his half-Turkish, half-Libyan heritage.

He said he hopes the eatery reflects his travels, and succeeds in “recreating the smells” of his childhood and experiences since.

Most of all, he hopes to bring something different to the city.

“I don’t like when things are boring,” he said.
