Pot roast is an autumn indulgence at this neighborhood gastropub

Dish of the Week: Pub Pot Roast at Napoleon's Grill

Pot roast is the culinary equivalent of an oversized sweater: it looks more and more inviting as the temperature drops. An excellent version is served at Napoleon’s Grill, a beer-centric favorite in the Oak Grove neighborhood.

The Pub Pot Roast features a chunk of fork-tender beef on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. Topped with sauteed spinach that also has an emphatic note of garlic, fried onion strings and a ladle of jus, Napoleon’s pot roast is unquestionably rich without tasting flabby or unbalanced.

In a particularly homey touch, Napoleon’s serves its pot roast in a large bowl that allows the dish’s components to intermingle. Grabbing a forkful of meat also affords you a bite of potatoes, spinach and jus. Finish this dish, and you’ll be ready to face another unpredictable winter in Atlanta.
