A popular longtime Decatur tapas restaurant is expanding its footprint with a new metro Atlanta location.

The Iberian Pig, which opened on the Decatur Square at 121 Sycamore St. in 2009 and also has an outpost at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, opened May 13 in the new Hanover Buckhead Village at 3150 Roswell Road.

It's the latest venture for the family-owned Castellucci Hospitality Group (CHG), which in addition to The Iberian Pig also owns Bar Mercado and Recess in Krog Street Market, Cooks & Soldiers, Double Zero and Sugo.

"We had been looking for the right fit for a second Iberian Pig location for some time," said CHG owner Fred Castellucci in a prepared statement. "Looking at Decatur and Buckhead, these two parts of town are very different, but both have great energy for dining, and we look to contribute to those dining communities in meaningful ways."

John Castellucci, Fred’s brother and the culinary principal of the Castellucci family, will oversee the Buckhead kitchen as executive chef. John worked at restaurants in San Francisco, New York City and San Sebastian, Spain before returning to Atlanta to help open several CHG concepts and most recently served as the executive chef at  The Iberian Pig Decatur.

The Buckhead location’s menu will feature many items from the Decatur menu, including the charcuterie program that offers five varieties of Jamón Ibérico; bacon-wrapped Medjool dates with Manchego cheese, walnut and Romesco sauce; and huevo con trufa slow-braised pork cheeks, poached eggs, black truffle paté and rustic bread. The bar program will feature a large selection sherry, Spanish wines and cocktails including the Iberian Old Fashioned made with bacon-infused rye whiskey, maple syrup and Angostura bitters.

The 4,500 square-foot two-story space was designed by Elizabeth Ingram Studio and features a large bar and banquet seating on the first floor, with the main dining room on the mezzanine floor.  Design elements include exposed concrete columns, steel and glass and dark wood fixtures with gold and velvet curtains.

Iberian Pig Buckhead will be open from 5-10 p.m. Sunday-Monday, 5-11 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 5 p.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday.
