A recent Twitter campaign should put any doubts that people take their emojis seriously to rest.

Apple updated the appearance of the paella emoji after social media users started the twitter campaign #ComboiPaellaEmoji, according to Emojipedia.  Their beef? They said the original emoji -- which was added to Apple's iOS in December 2016 -- didn't reflect traditional paella ingredients. The design went from using shrimp and peas to showing chicken, lima beans and green beans. The update was made as part of Apple's iOS 10.3 update on March 27.

"To the dismay of the authors of the original paella emoji proposal; the mixed ingredients used by Apple in iOS 10.2 did not match those used in traditional recipes from Valencia," according to the Emojipedia entry.

In other food-related emoji news, Emojipedia said 10 new culinary photos are in the running to be added to the list of options this summer including coconut, broccoli, pretzel, fortune cookies and a Chinese take-out boxes.
