Restaurant, food and dining news

Athens is about to get a new brewpub.

Akademia Brewing Company will open its doors Oct. 16 at 150 Crane Drive. The spot, founded by Matt Casey and Morgan Wireman, who will also serve as head brewer, will serve lunch and dinner in addition to brewing several of its own beers.

Brews will include ESB, tart brett saison, sweet stour and Belgian tripel, as well as more familiar styles such as IPAs, sessions and saisons.

Menu offerings will include upscale pub fare such as seasonal flatbreads, burgers and poutine, with several vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Akademia will host ticketed events Oct. 11 and 12 to allow customers to preview the space, as well as the beer and food. For more information, visit facebook.com/AKADEMIABC/
