New barbecue spot now open on the Marietta Square

Marietta Square has a new place for 'cue.

Hawg & Ale Smokehouse opened at 25 Powder Springs St. on April 10, according to Buddy Finethy, vice president of marketing.

The restaurant replaces Chantico Burrito Cantina , which closed in September 2017.

Hawg & Ale previously had a location in Peachtree Corners called Hog and Ale which has since been turned into an offsite catering unit.

The menu will feature barbecue staples including pulled pork sandwiches, smoked turkey breast, chopped brisket and smoked St. Louis Ribs and more creative fare with starters such as sweet tea collard greens, Sweetwater 420 Boiled Peanuts and pork rinds and queso.

Also look some vegetarian options including salads and the Unporked Sandwich made with smoked vegetables, as well as sides such as mac and cheese, fried okra and baked beans and a kids menu.

Finethy said the restaurant's design uses repurposed materials and handmade art.

"Our design philosophy is very much in response to the changing tastes of the public demanding a personalized artisan approach to their food and environment," said Finethy, who oversaw the design.

Look for hand-painted tables and mural, with art being changed out frequently.

The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner.
