With construction wrapping up since the Feb. 6 groundbreaking, Muss & Turner's East Cobb, which replaces Common Quarter, is on track to open its doors in East Cobb with a soft opening followed by grand opening festivities in early April, according to an announcement this morning.

Restaurant partners,  Todd Mussman and Ryan Turner of Unsukay Concepts, have been working to nail down the menu offerings, design and décor, and the plan for opening celebrations.

The original Muss & Turner’s opened on Feb. 8, 2005 in Smyrna as a restaurant and deli billed as "a 'come as you are' neighborhood joint with no culinary boundaries."

Unsukay Concepts also owns Local Three in Atlanta and Eleanor’s, a speakeasy inside the Smyrna Muss & Turner’s location.

More details from today's announcement

The menu will look similar to the Muss & Turner's (M&T) Smyrna chef-driven lunch menu – with an emphasis on soups, salads, sandwiches, sides, desserts, fries and made-from-scratch dipping sauces – and will be served open to close. A few menu modifications will be made to include additional fish items, a wider range of salad add-ons, extra soups, a handful of sides, and a new signature sandwich created as an ode to the partner's favorite local restaurant – Tasty China.

“We’ll be opening with a menu similar to the Smyrna lunch menu to start,” said Mussman. “It’s familiar, we know it’s successful, and we can produce it on a high level. Plus, from our research, we understand that folks in East Cobb are looking for more quality food options at a lower price-point and you won’t necessarily find that in dinner entrees and small plates. So, we’re excited to offer a model we believe will resonate well with the community out of the gates.”

As the only flex-casual concept in the area with a full liquor license, the restaurant will offer a beverage program featuring roughly 23 wines by the glass or bottle, six rotating local craft drafts, and eight cocktails – including M&T’s versions of classics and seasonal, hand-crafted cocktails.

The kids menu will replicate the Smyrna kids menu with 10 locally-sourced, high-quality options and will include a handful of kiddie mocktail specialty drinks.

Mussman and Turner thoughtfully designed the restaurant and hand-curated the décor to ensure it would fit well with the East Cobb community. The duo applied knowledge from both M&T Smyrna and Common Quarter, while also exploring unique ideas that have local connections.

“We enjoyed weaving in some familiar iconic elements into the design and décor of East Cobb, but we were stoked to get creative with new ideas too,” said Turner. “If someone is looking for a carbon copy of M&T Smyrna, they’ll be disappointed. We’re not ‘rubber stamping’ it. This is an original and we’re really excited about the environment we created. We ultimately designed a place that maintains our brand, but is also an exclusive experience to this neighborhood.”

Exclusive to East Cobb, the restaurant boasts 10 synched televisions linked to a sound system playing Top 40s throwback music videos from 1976-1996 for a nostalgic dining experience.

Muss & Turner’s East Cobb will be open for service Sundays – Thursdays from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. operating on a flex-causal model offering counter service during the day with full table service at night. The bar will offer full table service open to close daily.
