Midtown’s Wing Fest, hatch chile fest and more in metro Atlanta this weekend

Wing Fest in Midtown. Hatch chile fest in the Westside. There are several fun, food events happening in Atlanta, so add one or all four of the following activities to your calendar. Be prepared to eat, drink and have a grand ole time.

Saturday, Aug. 19: Ray's at Killer Creek  will fire up the Big Green Egg for a grilling demonstration and tasting menu featuring glazed pork belly salad, Wagyu brisket with cast iron mac and cheese and more from 1-3 p.m. Tickets are $39 and include the cooking demonstration; tasting menu; iced tea, soda or coffee; and choice of a Bloody Mary, mimosa or a 16-oz. draft beer. Sunday, Aug. 20: Fly over (figuratively, of course) to the second annual Springer Mountain Farms Southern Wing Showdown from 1-5 p.m. at The Foundry at Puritan Mill. The festival, affectionately dubbed Wing Fest, will feature wings, beer, Southern spirits and local music to benefit organizations such as Open Hand and Second Helpings Atlanta. Presented by Taste of Atlanta, this party with a purpose will feature some of the southeast's top chefs including Jared Hall of One Flew South, Savannah Haseler of Hampton + Hudson, Todd Richards of Richards' Southern Fried, and Matt Basford of Canoe and Nick Leahy of Saltyard. General admission tickets are $30 now through Aug. 19 or until sold out; at the door tickets will be $40 if available.

Sunday, Aug. 20: Valenza Restaurant will celebrate its 10th anniversary by hosting "Festa Italiana," an Italian-style street festival from 3-8 p.m. Guests will stroll through four tasting tents and weave through Valenza and sister restaurant vero pizzeria's dining rooms to taste Northern, Central and Southern Italian cuisine and wines. The restaurant has partnered with The Giving Kitchen to offer a silent auction, which will include select bottles of wine, a roundtrip, all-inclusive trip to Italy for two and more. Regular admission tickets are $40; VIP tickets are $65 and include entry to a VIP tent with more wine. Tickets for people under 21 years old are $20; children 12 and under are free.

Sunday, Aug. 20: Mix southern-style, Texas-inspired barbecue with the cultural flair of a Mexican-driven menu and you'll have a mash-up called  Foxeria Del Sol. Three restaurants, Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q , Taqueria del Sol and Home Team have partnered to turn up the heat with a sweet and savory menu featuring hatch chiles from New Mexico from 4-8 p.m. at Taqueria del Sol's Howell Mill location. Dishes will include a whole hog po'boy with hatch slaw and hatch vinegar hot sauce; smoke brisket tamale with hatch tomatillo salsa; and hatch chile hot chicken on white bread with Doux South sweet pickles. Tickets, which are $35 and include festival entry and unlimited access to food stations, can be purchased here. Beverages will be sold separately. All proceeds from the Foxeria del Sol Hatch Chile Fest will benefit Hogs for the Cause, a nonprofit organization that funds pediatric brain cancer outreach services.
