JCT Kitchen & Bar, the popular Ford Fry restaurant located in Westside Provisions District in West Midtown, will open with regular business hours today after a shooting last night.
A suspect attempted to rob a man at gunpoint in the parking lot outside the restaurant at 1198 Howell Mill Road, police said.
"The robber chased the victim into the crowded restaurant, and continued to fire at the man," Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos told the AJC. The robber fled the scene.
The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, conscious and breathing.
A Ford Fry Restaurants representative addressed the shooting in a prepared statement:
An incident occurred at JCT. Kitchen on Monday, August 28, around 9 p.m., and the Atlanta Police Department immediately arrived to the scene. We are working diligently with APD, the property security team and city inspectors as they investigate what is believed to be a targeted, isolated act intended for robbery, with the victim having come to the restaurant after shopping in Buckhead. The security and well-being of our guests and employees are always our first priority: We have off-duty APD officers present at the restaurant in addition to 24-hour security on-property at Westside Provisions District. We are saddened by this unforeseen circumstance and will continue to support all involved with the investigation to remain a safe environment.
The incident comes on the heels of Fry's announcement that he'll be adding to his Atlanta restaurant empire next year with a to-be-named Tex-Mex concept in Morningside.
