There's a new spot to get dinner and weekend brunch in Chamblee.

The Alden, located in the Parkview on Peachtree mixed-use development, is owned and operated by chef Jared Alden Hucks, an Atlanta native who also ran local supper club Dogwood Table and worked at restaurants in Australia, Thailand, Spain and Denmark.

The restaurant features a menu of "healthy, seasonal American cuisine," according to a press release, with "modern twists on Southern classics." Dinner options are divided into smaller dishes ($7-$21) and larger dishes ($23-$38), and include items such as the pan Asian egg, a soft coddled farm egg served with bok choy, ginger and rice cracker; Florida grouper served with pepperoni arrosto, black olive oil, pine nuts and caper berry; and Border Springs rack of lamb with rosemary, parsley root, glazed turnips, plum and mint jus.

Weekend brunch items will include dishes such as turkey and sweet potato hash served with red jasmine rice, peppers, crispy shallots, basted egg and prik nam pla and grilled steak and eggs benedict with black onion jam, red wine jelly, béarnaise, brioche and watercress.

A tasting menu with optional pairings is available to those who want to experience the action first-hand.

The beverage program includes "fresh, light, botanical-driven cocktails" and house-made seasonal juices, sodas, bitters, vermouth and tonics. The wine list was curated by Adam Fox, vice president of sales for Domaine Select Wine and Spirits and Hucks’ partner in Dogwood Table, and features wines from independently-owned farms practicing biodynamic wine making, while the beer selection centers on domestic craft producers.

The restaurant’s design features an open, custom-designed kitchen, high ceilings, a palette of earth tones, light fixtures and art installations from glass blower Rob Stern and 11 counter seats looking into the kitchen.

The Alden is open for dinner from 5:30-10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 5:30-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday. Sunday brunch is served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The restaurant joins Bad Daddy's Burger Bar and the soon-to-open Poke Bar and Chronic Tacos at in Parkview on Peachtree.

Parkview on Peachtree, 5070 Peachtree Boulevard, Chamblee. 678-395-6982, thealdenrestaurant.com.
