Frozen pop company's first metro Atlanta location to open tomorrow

King of Pops might need to make some room -- there's a new frozen pop game in town.

Steel City Pops is set to open its first Atlanta location tomorrow at noon at 312 Church St. in Decatur (the pops are currently only sold from carts at events around town).

To celebrate the grand opening, customers can get $1 off their pops when they show their social media post about the opening.

The Alabama-based company -- which also has locations in Texas and Kentucky -- was started by Jim Watkins and his family, serves Mexican paleta-inspired pops made with local ingredients and sweetened with organic cane sugar. Flavors -- divided into "fruity" and "creamy" categories -- include cranberry orange, plum with rosemary, strawberry fig, avocado, chocolate chili and maple bacon bourbon.
