French-Vietnamese eatery Le Colonial coming to Shops Buckhead Atlanta

Owners of Le Bilboquet, Umi partnering on project

The ownership groups behind Le Bilboquet and Umi are bringing the first location of French-Vietnamese restaurant Le Colonial to Atlanta.

Le Colonial, which has locations in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Houston, is slated to open in the Shops Buckhead Atlanta development in spring 2019.

“I couldn’t be happier to introduce this very special and dramatic concept to Atlantans,” said Rick Wahlstedt, owner of Le Bilboquet, in a press release. “Our menu will be about light and subtle fare, which we believe is just what Southerners want, but in a romantic, turn-of-the-century, tropical environment.”

Wahlstedt is partnering with Farshid Arshid, owner of Umi, on the Atlanta location, which Arshid said was “a no brainer.”

“The Asian elements of the menu are totally aligned with our direction at Umi and in the Atlanta culinary scene,” he said.

Le Colonial’s menu, developed by Vietnamese cookbook author Nicole Routhier, will balance “classic with modern touches,” according to the press release.

Look for menu items including Bo Luc Lac Shaking Beef, made with farm greens, caramelized filet mignon, sweet onions and watercress; Ca Chien Saigon, crispy red snapper with a spicy garlic glaze with Nuoc Cham and Siracha; and Ca Song, spicy yellowfin tuna tartare with avocado, sweet chili, cucumber, red shiso, soy caviar and taro chips.

Joseph King will serve as senior executive and managing partner with Hassan Obaye as executive chef.

Le Colonial will be located at the corner of Buckhead Avenue and Bolling Way, near Le Bilboquet. Umi is located across the street from the development.
