Georgia's culinary community is mourning the sudden loss of an employee who worked at The Grey, a fine dining restaurant in Savannah.

Two men in the vehicle also died in the crash. A third is in police custody.

Among Atlanta chefs to express condolences was Stephen Satterfield of Miller Union:

Located in a renovated Greyhound bus terminal, The Grey is considered one of the best restaurants in Savannah, and frequently weighs in among top dining spots in Georgia and the South.

A venture by business partners Johno Morisano and Mashama Bailey, also its executive chef, The Grey has garnered numerous accolades since opening in late 2014. In 2015, it was a James Beard Foundation award semifinalist in the Best New Restaurant category and a finalist in a restaurant design category. It has received coverage in Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, the New York Times and the Washington Post, among other media outlets. This year, it was named among Southern Living's best restaurants and made the cut for Eater's 38 Essential Southern Restaurants.
