Curry Up Now picks first metro Atlanta locations and other dining news from the week


A popular San Francisco-based Indian chain has chosen its first metro Atlanta locations.

Curry Up Now is slated to open at 1555 Church St. by the end of the year, with more locations to follow at Madison Yards on Memorial Drive in Reynoldstown and The Interlock on Howell Mill Road in West Midtown.

Franchisee Hemant Suri, who recently sold Midtown Tavern is opening the Atlanta locations, which will join eateries in Sacramento as the first to open outside of the Bay Area.

Founded in 2009 by husband and wife Akash and Rana Kapoor and senior VP of operations and co-founder Amir Hosseini, Curry Up Now's menu features dishes such as Tikka Masala Burrito, Deconstructed Samosa, Sexy Fries and Naughty Naan; traditional items such as Kathi Rolls, Biryani and Thali Platters; and Indian street food offerings including Pani Puri, Marwari Kachori Chaat, Bhel Puri and Papdi Chaat.

The spot uses gluten-free curries, chutneys and sauces; cage-free eggs; local, organic produce and dairy products; and Halal protein options.

Brezza Cucina in Ponce City Market has a new burrata and raw bar available beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday-Friday. The bar features Italian burrata along with raw items including oysters on the half shell and crudo. Dishes are half off from 3-6 pm.

•Muchacho is expanding its offerings with a larger taco menu and a pour over program featuring Proud Mary coffee, the only Atlanta restaurant to offer the Australian-based brand. New taco options include Reggae, a breakfast taco with egg, potato and pico; Buckaroo, made with eggs, short-rib barbacoa and roasted poblano and corn; and a Baja Fish Taco made with haddock fried in a Tecate batter, lime crema and a jicama and green papaya slaw. 

•Estrella, the newly opened champagne bar and restaurant overlooking the Atlanta Beltline’s Eastside Trail, will begin serving Saturday lunch and Sunday brunch this weekend. Beginning at lunch on Saturdays, the restaurant will serve an all-day menu with dishes including ceviche, adobo chicken, cochinita spring rolls and chayitas. From noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays, the restaurant will offer takes on classic Yucatecan brunch dishes followed by the full menu throughout the afternoon and evening. In addition, a tableside gin cart will make the rounds before 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
