There's a new shawarma in town.

Fast casual Mediterranean restaurant Shami Kitchen is now open at 8363 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.

The entirely in-house menu offers staples including beef kifta and shawarma, as well as vegetarian options including falafel,  hummus, baba ghanoush and tabouleh.

The word "Shami" translates to "native of Damascus"—true of both Shami Kitchen’s founder, Abe Malla, and executive chef, Abud Halabi. Abe also serves as CEO of Atlanta home furnishings store Westside Market. He plans to open additional locations of Shami Kitchen in coming years. Halabi, who has more than 20 years of experience in the kitchen, previously worked for restaurants in Syria and China.

The 45-seat restaurant is open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and also offers catering.
