BBQ cook-off, wine dinner and more food events in metro Atlanta this week

Barbecue cook-off. Grand opening party with free appetizers. An afternoon of food, beer and art. There are several fun, food events happening in metro Atlanta, so add one or all four of the following activities to your calendar. Be prepared to eat, drink and have a grand ole time.

Wednesday, March 22: To celebrate its grand opening, Jai Ho Indian Kitchen & Bar , located in Morningside, will host a party and diners will be in for a treat. Guests will receive 50-percent off a bottle wine plus a free appetizer at each table during the festivities, which will also include live music.

Thursday, March 23: Wine and dine. Head to ONE. midtown kitchen for hand-selected wines from Napa Valley winery paired with executive chef Matt Weinstein's small plates from 6-9 p.m. Pairings will include swordfish belly and Chardonnay; crispy pork belly and Pinot Noir; plus braised lamb neck and Cabernet Sauvignon. A seat at the table for the event is $65.

Saturday March 25: Venkman's will host a Bluegrass, barbecue festival and cook-off from 12-5 p.m. The event will feature the best barbecue straight off the Big Green Egg as well as live performances by Sailing to Denver and Smokey's Farmland Band. For $45, guests will also dive into unlimited food samples from some of Atlanta's favorite restaurants; receive two drink tickets; and an opportunity to win a Big Green Egg. Sunday, March 26: For a mashup of hot bites from Southern Bonz food truck, craft beer pairings with a brewery tour and vibrant local art, head to Orphism #9, held at Orpheus Brewing from 12:30-5 p.m. Guests will be able to mix and mingle with Atlanta artist Hannah Pearman, who will create a live painting of the cosmos during the event. Orpheus will also host a local artist pop-up shop in the tasting room where guests can purchase select artwork. Tickets are $12 each.
