Visitors to Lenox Square might do a double take next week when they walk past the Bantam + Biddy space at the Buckhead mall. That’s because business partners Shaun Doty and Lance Grummere are replacing their casual, chicken-centric eatery with a brand new concept: ATL Taco.
The change will occur Jan. 12 and will only affect the Bantam + Biddy location at Lenox; no changes are anticipated at the chain’s locations in Ansley Mall or at Avalon in Alpharetta.
According to Doty, the ATL Taco menu will be fairly brief with Mexican menu essentials like guacamole, as well as tacos, enchiladas and burritos. Following a recent national trend toward what Doty called “multicultural” taquerias, its tacos will include some unusual fillings. “I like the idea of exercising some creativity,” he said.
ATL Taco will also offer a weekend brunch menu featuring the likes of churro chicken and waffles as well as breakfast burritos.
A full bar is also planned.
Apart from their own hankering for tacos, Doty and Gummere opted to change the concept to better serve the crowd at Lenox. “Inside Lenox, there is no Mexican concept. It is wanting for a Mexican dining experience,” Doty said. “The audience that goes to Lenox is a younger audience looking for entertainment experience. I look at it as a missing part of the pie at Lenox.”
ATL Taco will be located across from Cousins Maine Lobster, set to open in Lenox Square this year.
In addition to Bantam + Biddy, Gummere and Doty own The Federal in Midtown and Chick-a-Biddy at Atlantic Station.
