The winners of the 2017 James Beard Foundation Media Awards were announced last night and an Atlantan was among them.

Eater editor and critic Bill Addison won in the Dining and Travel award category for his Eater piece titled "I Want Crab. Pure Maryland Crab."

Addison, a former food critic for Atlanta Magazine and Creative Loafing, was also in the running for the Craig Claiborne Distinguished Restaurant Review award. However, Karen Brooks of Portland Monthly took that honor.

On May 1, the James Beard Restaurant and Chef award winners will be announced.

Finalists for Best Chef: Southeast include Atlanta chefs Steven Satterfield of Miller Union and Ryan Smith of Staplehouse . This is Satterfield's fifth year in a row as a finalist in this category. Satterfield's Miller Union is also one of five finalists in the Outstanding Wine Program category as well.
