Alpharetta taco spot to host grand opening this weekend and other Atlanta dining news from the week

Here are the stories that made a splash in the Atlanta food world this week.

California-based taco chain Chronic Tacos is set to open its first Georgia location this weekend, and is celebrating with giveaways and samples.

The grand opening will take place from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at 970 North Point Drive, Ste 160.

The restaurant will offer giveaways and free samples, while the first 20 people in line get 1 free taco every week for a year and first 50 people in line will get a free taco that day.

Set to open in February, the first location will take over the space vacated by Tom + Chee in the Stone Walk development at 970 Northpoint Drive in Alpharetta.

A second Chronic Tacos is set to open later this year in the Parkview on Peachtree development at 5070 Peachtree Blvd. in Chamblee, also home to Bad Daddy's Burger Bar and the forthcoming Poke Bar and The Alden.

A third location is reportedly in the works for Midtown.

Started in 2002, Chronic Tacos has locations in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Utah and Washington, as well as three locations in Canada.

Chronic’s offers a build-your-own Mexican dish format, asking customers to choose from a variety of bases including tacos, burritos, quesadillas and salads and proteins including pollo asado, carne asada and vegetables. The menu also features specialty items such as Chronic fries and nachos, as well as breakfast items.

Peachtree Pint is now open in Lenox Square, in the former Which Wich space. The spot offers more than 30 international and domestic beers on tap, including several Georgia-made beers. Snacks curated by local chefs will also be available for purchase.
