Acclaimed Atlanta restaurant to be featured on PBS show 'A Chef's Life'

Chef Vivian Howard is on the road in the Southeast for the current season of "A Chef's Life," and she'll be making a pit stop in Atlanta in an upcoming episode.

Airing at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 18 on GPB HDTV, the episode, titled "Persimmon Style,"  will feature Howard cooking at Gunshow, the acclaimed Glenwood Park restaurant from "Top Chef" alum and James Beard Award finalist Kevin Gillespie.

Filmed during Howard's appearance at a Gunshow "Hired Guns" dinner last October, the show films Howard as she cooks for the restaurant's "Hired Guns" event last October.

Howard prepares a riff on an eastern North Carolina stew and a warm bitter green salad made with persimmons as she chats with Gillespie about how he chose the name for his restaurant and the unusual dinner service.

"He grew up in the rural south, and I think we see Southern food through a similar lens," Howard says during the episode.

Howard, the owner and chef at Chef & the Farmer in Kinston, NC, takes "A Chef's Life" on the road for in season 5, visiting more than 20 cities in a food truck to promote her new cookbook, "Deep Run Roots."
