Watch: Chance with Hawks ‘dream come true’ for ex-D2 guard Jaylen Morris

Jaylen Morris made it from NCAA Division II Molloy College to the NBA. The Hawks signed him to a 10-day contract on Wednesday.

The Hawks signed guard Jaylen Morris to a 10-day contract on Wednesday. Morris was playing for their G-League affiliate in Erie, Pa. after he wasn’t selected in the 2017 draft out of Division II Molloy College.

“I think he’s somebody that is just a good overall player,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. “He’s showed good athleticism and kind of an I.Q. and ability to play multiple positions. He’s even played the backup point guard in Erie when Josh (Magette) and people have been gone, which it is not his position but just the fact that he can do it in short (term). Now (it’s) can he continue to work and improve as a defender and a shooter. He’s been a real good player for us in the G League.”
