Hawks playoff watch: Hornets eliminated

Well, that I-85 first-round playoff series is dead.

With the Hawks victory over the Hornets, with wins by the Celtics and Pacers, Charlotte was eliminated from the Eastern Conference playoff race. Not much else changed in the standings despite a busy Friday night as the Nets also won.

The No. 1 seed Hawks' first-round opponent remains the Nets as it currently stands.

Only the Heat are in action today as they host the Raptors.

Here’s how things stand in the Eastern Conference for the final two spots:

8. Brooklyn      (37-42)     23.0 GB    3 games remaining

9. Indiana         (36-43)    24.0 GB    3 games remaining

10. Miami         (35-44)    25.0 GB     3 games remaining
