Hawks agree to contract with point guard Isaiah Taylor

The Hawks have agreed to a free-agent contract with point guard prospect Isaiah Taylor. The two-year contract is partially guaranteed for 2017-18.

Taylor, 23, fills the Hawks' 15th and final roster spot and will play behind Dennis Schroder and Malcolm Delaney.

The Hawks also have Josh Magette on a two-way contract that stipulates he can spend no more than 45 days on the NBA roster in 2017-18 with the balance of the season at the team's G-League affiliate in Erie, Pa. Look for Magette to be sent there soon.

The Rockets waived Taylor on Sunday. Houston cut Taylor during the 2016 preseason and then re-signed him in February. He played 52 minutes over four regular-season games and 10 minutes over three games in the playoffs.

Taylor declared for the 2016 draft after three seasons at Texas but was not selected. According to his DraftExpress profile, speed is Taylor's best attribute but he struggled with shooting in college. Taylor isn't likely to play significant minutes but the Hawks want to play a faster pace and it seems Taylor could help in that regard.
