Game Thread: Kerr not looking ahead to Finals

OAKLAND -- Here's a change.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr was asked before Wednesday's game against the Hawks whether he looks at the contest as a measuring stick since it's a potential NBA Finals matchup.

"I don't look at it as a preview of the NBA Finals because in the Western Conference you are just hoping to survive and advance," Kerr said. "That is so far off in the distance. ... We just look at it more in terms of  it should be a really fun night, a great challenge. We love playing against the best teams. They are one of the best obviously. It should be a game that our guys are up for, our fans are up for. We only get to play them twice. So it will be a lot of fun.

"The winner really doesn't get anything. The loser really doesn't get anything. We are both in great shape in our respective conferences. We'll see what happens in the ensuing months. We are not going to look too far ahead."

In another item:

Mike Scott, out for an extended period of time with a broken toe, was due to be examined by a foot specialist on Monday. Despite the appointment, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said there was no update or timetable on Scott's return.

"We are still evaluating it," Budenholzer said. "There is no update now."
