What to watch for: The Hawks open exhibition play with the first of three straight road games. The Hawks will play two home exhibition games at Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion (Oct. 9 and Oct. 12) as Philips Arena undergoes renovation.
The Hawks will have to replace four of the top six players in minutes played from 2016-17 season: Paul Millsap, Dwight Howard, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Thabo Sefolosha. Coach Mike Budenholzer says he plans to mix and match lineups during the exhibition season.
Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder traveled with the team to Miami on Saturday after was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge early Friday in DeKalb County.
