Hawks starting small forward DeMarre Carroll will be out for Friday night’s game against the Trail Blazers.

Carroll was described as “a little banged up” when he missed Thursday’s practice for treatment. The Hawks issued an injury report prior to Friday's game stating Carroll would be out with a left Achilles strain. He will likely get an MRI.

Carroll was injured in Wednesday's win over the Nets.

Carroll has missed five games this season. He was out four games in November with a groin strain. He also missed a game earlier this month for rest.

Thabo Sefolosha will start in place of Carroll.

Reserve guard Shelvin Mack will also miss Friday's game, his sixth straight, with a strained left calf.
