DVR alert: Freeman to be revealed  tonight on the Top 100 player show

Falcons running back Devonta Freeman, who battled through two concussions and a knee injury, will be revealed on NFL Network’s The Top 100 Players of 2018  at 8 p.m tonight.

Freeman will make his third appearance on the list. He was 41st last season and 50th in 2016.

This player will be making his third career appearance on the list, and will be the first Falcons player to be revealed on this year’s list thus far,” according to NFL Media.

The show counts down the top players in the NFL as voted on by current NFL players.

Freeman will slide some this year’s ranking because he missed three games and failed to reach 1,000 yards rushing after two consecutive seasons of more than the mark. He also missed a key blitz pickup against the Eagles in the divisional playoff game.

To Freeman’s credit, he came back and ran hard after both concussions. The team may have overpaid in making him the highest paid running back in the league.  Freeman, who was set to make $1.838 million on the last year of his rookie contract, agreed to a five-year, $41.25 million contract last season. The deal, which averaged $8.25 million, made Freeman the highest paid running in the NFL. Buffalo’s LeSean McCoy was the highest paid running back on a five-year $40 million deal signed March 8, 2015. His deal averages $8 million a year.

Pittsburgh and running back LeVeon Bell continues to quibble over a long-term deal, which should surpass Freeman’s deal.
