‘Timber’ at Rialto sets 16th Atlanta Francophonie Festival in motion


Cirque Alfonse, a Quebec acrobatic troupe presenting its lumberjack-inspired show “Timber” at the Rialto Center for the Arts on Saturday, promises to get the 16th Annual Atlanta Francophonie Festival off to a flying start (404-413-9849, www.rialtocenter.org ).

Through March at multiple Atlanta sites, the celebration of culture from French-speaking countries presents a dozen events including ...

  • A performance of Slimane Benaïssa’s “Les Papiers de l’Amour” (“Love Papers”) by the Swiss Theatre Company Apsara (March 24)
  • A lecture by Alain Mabanck (March 26) and a reading of works by the French-Congolese novelist-poet (March 31)
  • “Poèmes électroniques,” a live performance/multimedia installation in response to war (March 27-28)
  •  Film screenings
