Atlantan Scott to lead Chanticleer

William Fred Scott, a long-time figure on Atlanta’s classical music scene, has been named music director of Chanticleer, the 12-man a cappella ensemble founded in San Francisco in 1978. The director of choral music at the Westminster Schools for five years, Thomasville native Scott was artistic director and principal conductor of the Atlanta Opera from 1985 to 2005 and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s associate conductor from 1981 to 1988. He is guest music directing two Chanticleer concerts this season and begins his new role over the Grammy-winning vocal ensemble next August. HOWARD POUSNER

High receives $150,000 digital grant

The High Museum of Art’s American Art[CQ CAP, FORMAL NAME] collection will get greater online exposure, making it more accessible to the public, scholars and researchers, as the result of a $150,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation announced Tuesday. Roughly half the funds are earmarked for photography of many of the more than 1,100 objects in the American Art collection, including 360-degree images of key works. The High will also put funds toward integrating the photography and descriptive content into a searchable online database and into future in-gallery and mobile interpretive platforms, planned as part of a major re-installation of the museum’s permanent collection.
