High Museum pops open Coke bottle show Saturday
An exhibition opening Saturday at the High Museum of Art takes a fresh angle on one of Atlanta's most ubiquitous products. "The Coca-Cola Bottle: An American Icon at 100" is a design-oriented show focusing on Coke's contoured glass container, developed a century ago, rather than the carbonated liquid it contains. Filling two stories of the Anne Cox Chambers Wing, the exhibit features more than 100 objects, including more than 15 Andy Warhol works and more than 40 photographs.

MOCA GA features 77 Georgia artists in "Gathered"
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia offers a wide-screen view of work being produced by artists in Georgia at the moment in the exhibition "Gathered: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists."
Including 81 pieces, filling all of MOCA GA's upper level galleries and lobby, the show opens with a 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday reception.
The exhibit of work by 77 artists from across the state was curated by a quartet of Georgia artists: LaGrange photographer John D. Lawrence, director of the Lamar Dodd Art Center at LaGrange College; Atlanta artist Jiha Moon; Athens muralist Joseph Norman, a University of Georgia art professor; and August sculptor Brian Rust, who teaches at Augusta State University.
From 1,133 works submitted by more than 384 artists, they selected the pieces for "Gathered," the second Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists exhibit at MOCA GA. The first one, in 2013, was one of the best-attended exhibits in the Buckhead nonprofit's history.
The mission of both shows was simple: to assemble some of the best work currently being produced in Georgia, rather than to do a survey or to find a common theme.
The "Gathered" artists represent more than 75 cities in the state.
