The Atlanta Regional Commission has extended the application deadline to Oct. 30 for the spring 2016 Arts Leaders of Metro Atlanta class.

The program was launched to develop leaders who share a sense of responsibility for supporting arts and culture across the metro area in the face of mounting challenges. During the course of five one-day classes spread over five months, participants meet with key arts leaders and elected officials from the metro area and hear from industry experts.

Panel  topics last year included: The Giving Tree: “Arts and Philanthropy,” “Learning from Failure” and “Innovation in the Field.”

The ARC, the regional planning agency for the 10-county Atlanta area, voted in 2012 to integrate arts and culture planning into the commission's planning portfolio. It took over the Arts Leaders of Metro Atlanta program that was established by the Metro Atlanta Arts and Culture Coalition in 2004
