The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival drew 38,631 moviegoers for its recently concluded 15th edition, making it the world's No.1-drawing Jewish film festival.
That honor long had been held by the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, with attendance of 35,000. There are more than 200 Jewish film festivals worldwide.
The Atlanta fest presented 177 screenings of 65 domestic and international films from Jan. 28 to Feb. 19 at theaters in Midtown and across the northern suburbs.
On its web site (ajff.org), a celebratory statement noted: "As the saying goes, bigger isn't always better. We are proud to claim bragging rights as the world's largest Jewish film festival. At the same time, our priority will continue to be on producing the highest quality festival possible that serves the needs of our community. We will also continue to actively support and partner with our peers at other Jewish film festivals around the globe. Our relationship is one of collaboration, not competition."
