Virgin Atlantic Airways has moved its North American headquarters to Atlanta, settling into a space on the campus of its partner Delta Air Lines.

U.K.-based Virgin Atlantic now has about 40 employees inside Delta's headquarters near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. About a third of the Virgin employees moved from their previous North America headquarters in Norwalk, Conn., with the relocation completed earlier this year.

Delta and Virgin Atlantic are joint venture partners, cooperating on pricing, schedules and sales in North America-U.K. markets.

Atlanta-based Delta in 2012 announced a deal to pay $360 million for a 49 percent stake of Virgin Atlantic. The two carriers got antitrust clearance for the deal and joint venture in 2013, and Virgin Atlantic launched flights from Atlanta in 2014.

Virgin Atlantic now has finance, human resources, IT, sales and marketing employees in Atlanta, close by the people at Delta who they work with for the joint venture.

“We’re really seeing the benefits,” said Virgin Atlantic senior vice president for North America Chris Rossi.

Employees from Delta partners Air France-KLM and Aeromexico are also stationed at Delta’s headquarters in Atlanta.
