Delta plane makes emergency landing in Nigeria, five injured


A Delta Air Lines plane bound for Atlanta made an emergency landing after takeoff from an airport in Lagos, Nigeria.

With airport fire authorities waiting, Delta flight 55 returned to the airport after an “issue with one of the A330-300’s two engines.”

The airline said the flight landed safely. However, passengers had to use emergency slides to leave the aircraft.

Five passengers were injured in the evacuation, with injuries Delta called “non-critical.”

After the evacuation, passengers were taken by bus back to the terminal.

Delta said it is arranging overnight accommodations for the passengers, who will be rescheduled to fly out Wednesday. A Delta plane had to make an emergency landing in Nigeria.
