With the Brussels airport closed in the wake of the attacks this week, Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines said it is flying the Boeing 747-400 on its route between Detroit and Amsterdam on Saturday to accommodate passengers flying to and from Europe.

The Brussels Zaventem Airport remains closed through Sunday, so Delta's Brussels-Atlanta and Brussels-New York flights are canceled through Sunday.

Delta is using the 747 instead of its smaller Boeing 767-300ER on the route to provide extra seats.

The airline said it is accommodating many of its customers through flights operated by its joint venture partners Air France and KLM, which have hubs in Paris and Amsterdam.

Delta is now waiving certain change fees for passengers with flights booked to, from or through Brussels through April 12. Those with flights booked to, from or through Amsterdam and Paris-Charles de Gaulle can change travel plans without paying a change fee through March 31, with certain restrictions.

Delta said it is working on plans to resume service when the Brussels airport reopens for commercial flights.
