Delta Air Lines said it is canceling more than 400 flights Wednesday evening and Thursday in New York and Boston due to a Nor'easter -- and the number could grow.

That's in addition to flights suspended Wednesday at Savannah/Hilton Head International and Brunswick Golden Isle airports due to snow and ice on the runways and taxiways.

Passengers should check their flight status on Delta's website or app before going to the airport.

Atlanta-based Delta said Boston Logan International Airport could get as much as 15 inches of snow.

The flight cancellations for Wednesday evening and Thursday will be primarily at New York's John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports and Boston Logan, according to Delta.

Flights at other airports along the Eastern seaboard could also be delayed and canceled, "depending on the track and severity of the storm," Delta said.

The airline is moving some planes away from New York and Boston ahead of the storm to allow a quick restart of operations after it passes. Planes left in a storm can require lengthy deicing before they can fly again, causing delays.

Atlanta-based Delta also canceled some flights to Myrtle Beach and Charleston, S.C. on Wednesday.

For those whose flights could be affected by the winter weather, Delta is waiving certain change fees for travelers with flights booked Wednesday or Thursday to, from or through certain airports in the Southeast  including coastal airports in Georgia and certain airports in the Mid-Atlantic, or booked Thursday or Friday to, from or through certain airports in the Northeast.
