A black female doctor's post on Facebook about how a flight attendant on a Delta Air Lines flight doubted whether she was really a doctor during a medical emergency has sparked thousands of responses.
Tamika Cross, an OB-GYN in Houston, wrote on Facebook about her experience during a flight where a man was unresponsive. "I naturally jumped into Doctor mode," she wrote in her post. A flight attendant dismissed her offer to help, then asked if she was "an actual physician" and asked what type of doctor she was and where she worked, according to Cross's post.

Cross wrote that a "'seasoned' white male doctor" approached and said he was a physician, and the flight attendant dismissed her help.
Cross added that the flight attendant later asked for her help and apologized, offering SkyMiles. "I don't want skymiles in exchange for blatant discrimination," Cross wrote.
Delta said it is investigating the incident.
"Discrimination of any kind is never acceptable," Delta spokeswoman Catherine Sirna said in a written statement. "We've been in contact with Dr. Cross and one of our senior leaders is reaching out to her to assure her that we're completing a full investigation."
Cross's post had generated 81,000 reaction on Facebook by Thursday evening, had been shared more than 32,000 times and generated more than 11,000 comments.
