It’s a sure sign of spring: Pollen is already here.
Just weeks after bitter cold brought snow and iced over roads, Wednesday’s pollen count was 134 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air.
To be clear, that isn't a lot. Last year's season high, recorded on March 31, was 3,559 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air. In 2017, the season high was 4,107.
However, “pollen should increase the next couple of days,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.
The morning’s drizzle dried up and showers stayed away late Wednesday as temperatures warmed.
Atlanta reached a high of 59 — just three degrees above average, Channel 2 Action News Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.
“If you’re heading out tonight, temperatures will be rather warm,” he said.
And they should really heat up Thursday, when the city is projected to reach 73.
Rain chances are low Thursday, but a cold front coming in Friday should bring them up to 40 percent.
Highs should be in the 60s and 70s the rest of this week.
