Don’t get rid of the umbrella just yet.

Scattered rain is expected to become more widespread Wednesday evening, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

After two days of tying record highs, Wednesday was not only wet but also considerably cooler.

Metro Atlanta experienced below-average temperatures after two days of record-tying highs.

Atlanta tied a 78-degree record set in 1994 Monday and a 79-degree record set in 2005 Tuesday, Channel 2 reported.

The average high for this time of year is 66.

Currently, the temperature is 52 degrees.

The chill in the air isn’t going away. It will also be about 10 degrees colder Thursday morning than it was Wednesday, Nitz said.

And the rain is expected to stick around, too.

Overnight and into the morning, “We’re going to have wet weather,” Nitz said. “Looks like it’s going to be a wet commute to start (Thursday).”
